Addiction, Mental Health and Shame: An IFS perspective

Paul Nyklicek, LMFT, LADC is a licensed marriage and family therapist and licensed alcohol and drug counselor who presently practices in Farmington, Connecticut. He utilizes the IFS (Internal Family Systems) therapeutic model in his work with clients that is a transformative model of therapy that is used to treat a range of mental health disorders including anxiety, depression, PTSD, and substance abuse.

Paul will give a brief overview of the IFS model and describe how the manifestations of addiction processes, common mental health conditions, and experienced shame co-exist and interrelate to take people out of their natural states of wellness. He will explain how applying the IFS model in therapy can help people return to their natural wellness.
