Charles F. Caley, PharmD, BCPP, FAAPP
Dr. Charles Caley is a board-certified psychiatric pharmacist and Clinical Professor at Western New England University College of Pharmacy and Health Sciences. He has spent more than 30 years working in psychiatric pharmacy as a clinician, educator, and researcher, including many years providing care and psychopharmacology consultation at the Institute of Living in Hartford — helping patients and the psychiatrists, nurse practitioners, and other providers caring for them get the most benefit from psychiatric medications while minimizing side effects. He is a Fellow of the American Association of Psychiatric Pharmacists and has authored more than 40 publications on psychiatric medications, mental health stigma, and psychiatric pharmacy education.
Dr. Caley has a longstanding commitment to helping people living with mental illness, and their families, better understand psychiatric medications. He has presented at NAMI’s national convention, co-developed patient education materials on psychiatric medications still used by NAMI members today and participated in NAMI family medication support groups. He currently serves as the lead clinical consultant on an AAPP Foundation funded research grant studying how clinical pharmacists with expertise in psychiatry can improve depression treatment in primary care.
